Annual Festive Lights Switch On Event

This annual event will be held on Sunday, 1 December 2019.

The Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Dan Plato, will be joined by thousands of Capetonians and visitors as he switches on the festive lights at 20h30.
A free concert will be held on the Grand Parade from 16h00 to 22h00. Road closures in Upper Adderley Street (from Strand Street) and Darling Street will be phased in from 06h00 for set-up and the public to walk the streets and enjoy the festive lights after switch on.

No parking will be permitted in Adderley Street and Darling Street from midnight on Saturday 30 November until Sunday 1 December 24h00. Build up on the Grand Parade and City Hall will commence on Monday 25 November until Tuesday 3 December 2019 which may result in congested areas in Darling Street.

We anticipate that the event will be attended by thousands of families, and we would like to encourage all guests to take advantage of extended trading hours from all shops in the area.
